Penang International Airport's passenger terminal is designed with two levels, serving specific functions for arrivals and departures. The ground level is dedicated to arrivals, while the upper level is utilized for departures. Sky bridges connect these levels, allowing passengers to conveniently access their boarding gates.

Arrival Hall

The arrival hall at Penang International Airport is a long and narrow concourse, featuring approximately a dozen sky bridges. Most planes dock at the terminal, utilizing these bridges for passenger embarkation. However, smaller aircraft may park off one end of the terminal, requiring passengers to walk across the outdoor tarmac to reach the terminal building. Both domestic and international passengers, whether arriving or departing, use the main concourse. International passengers are directed to immigration counters located on the lower level. Baggage claim counters are situated a short distance behind immigration, followed by the customs area and the main arrival hall.

Departure Hall

The departure hall is situated on the first floor of the terminal. Each main entryway is equipped with screens displaying information about the check-in counters for respective flights. Passengers must undergo security screening, including metal detection and baggage scanning, to access the check-in counters.

The domestic and international gates are located beside each other at the far end of the terminal. Beyond this point, only passengers with valid tickets are allowed. International passengers must pass through immigration control, while all passengers go through a second security screening before entering the departure lounge.
